Compose your manuscript

A good time to consider commissioning a professional language editor / reviser is when you have a complete draft manuscript in hand.

Have me revise it

Upon receiving your manuscript, I first highlight all of it, usually in yellow, and read through it start to finish, taking notes.

I then continue from the start of the Introduction by removing the highlight from sentences (or parts thereof) that I find good. With the tracking of changes enabled, I edit the entire manuscript until all yellow highlighting is gone, leaving the Abstract till last. This is the stage where I am most likely to ask you questions or seek clarification.

Afterwards I work with the piece as a whole to ensure consistency, readability and word economy. When I feel that the manuscript is ready, I send it to you.

Give me your feedback on the edits

Author feedback is an important part of the editing process. After going over all edits, suggestions and comments by the reviser, it is time to raise questions, criticisms, alternative suggestions and requests.

After all potential remaining issues are cleared up, it is always a good idea to let the reviser give a final once-over to the clean, finished manuscript.

Submit the finished manuscript to a journal

Now that your manuscript is up to scratch, you can submit it with confidence to your target journal.

Please don't forget to inform me about the reviewers' opinions and editor's decision.

Carry out your minor or major revision

A good time to consider commissioning a professional language editor / reviser after peer review is when your manuscript is deemed in need of editing by a native speaker, shortening, expanding or adjusting to suit the house style of the journal.
